Evansville Collects Contemporary American Still Life celebrates a most happy consequence of the museum’s focus on the still life genre. Beginning with the 1988 exhibition The Eye and the Heart – Watercolors of John Stuart Ingle, members of our community have become aware of dozens of contemporary realist artists from across the country; have gained a better appreciation of the substance and scope of the work by these artists; and have thoughtfully built their own collections using the museum as a resource.
Professional archaeologists and university students from the Glenn Black Laboratory of Archaeology at Indiana University will once again be returning to Angel Mounds State Historic Site to conduct an archaeological field school excavation on certain portions of the site.
The Jehovah’s Witness summer convention will continue on two consecutive weekends – June 14-16 and June 21-23 – at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville.The convention is free and open to the public each weekend. This year’s theme is “God’s Word is Truth!” with emphasis on family values. Morning sessions begin at 9:20AM. Lunch begins at noon until the afternoon sessions continue at 1:20PM and conclude at 4:30PM. A dramatic Bible play is presented during the Sunday afternoon sessions.
